“First Date”

This is another digital piece I made for my AP Art class. It was made to represent my understanding of the “levels” of your faith as a Christian.

A man and woman go on a first date. The woman appears to gaze at him with a sense of hope and love; she’s holding eye contact… but it’s one-sided. The man is looking at her chest; there is no spark in his eyes.

The flowers droop near him, while they flourish towards the woman. This symbolizes their intentions and how pure they are.

She has a Lotus tattoo that symbolizes new beginnings, explaining her lighter nature, while the man wears a cross to show that he is a Christian. However, this man only has one goal that is driven by lust. He is a Lukewarm Christian

I intentionally drew the woman to appear slightly more provocative with a bright tube top, a lip piercing, and a tattoo- while the man is fully covered and more modest to show that things aren’t always what they seem. “Don’t judge a book by its cover!”

I had learned a term used to describe the “Christians” who claim they’re tight in their faith, when really they’re not genuine. The term is called “lukewarm.

"I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth."
